Was recently in New York City with some friends. Had some time to kill and stumbled upon a parade – decided to hang out and watch it. Have always been an incessant people watcher – decided to take a bunch of shots of various characters in the parade that caught my eye. Was intrigued by this lady – especially her “we are all beautiful” sign. Since the NYC trip, have happened upon a few other parades at the Jersey Shore – have taken shots of characters at these parades as well. Look for additions to this “Parade” series over the next few months.

When walking through the North End in Boston, came to this square off the main road. Was fascinated by the church and the cluster of guys chatting away – they just set up some folding chairs on the corner and were holding court – each guy taking turns ribbing the others – their laughter was drowning out the other sounds in the area. Wish I could have recorded their conversation. Felt like this scene and their friendly banter was what this section of Boston is all about.

The North End in Boston has some great Italian restaurants. Loved the washed out brightness of the street and the dark darks of the interior.

Love New York City. This painting captures an afternoon scene along Bryant Park. The mid-afternoon sun created some nice highlights on the people walking the street. Liked the Chrysler Building in the background. This painting is a sister painting to 5th Avenue. Both paintings capture Manhattan on the same mid Summer day. 5th Avenue faces South. Bryant Park faces East.

Love The North End in Boston. Was on a family vacation – spent some time walking around, trying out the Italian restaurants and pastry shops, and visiting the historical sites. What stays with me about this area is the neon and the churches. Captured both in this painting.

Caught a reference shot for this painting just as the sun was setting at Sea Isle, New Jersey. Liked the subtle details in the shadows of the house and the bright pinks in the sky. Took the shot from the promenade. This view isn’t available anymore – construction behind this house hides the view.
